Penn Wood Home & School Association
Biweekly Bulletin
A Message From the Board
This school year is in full swing and Penn Wood school spirit and traditions remain our strongest themes. Home & School is excited to find ways to keep our traditions going but also adapt to change and welcome new ideas.
Some highlights so far this September:
- The Penn Wood Ice Cream Social, a longstanding school tradition, was a huge success earlier this month thanks to all of our volunteers, "celebrity scoopers," and families who attended. THANK YOU!
- The Fall FUNdraiser, our main fundraiser each year, is fully underway and the students are getting super excited for the upcoming celebrations!
- The Penn Wood Library was dedicated to former principal, Dr. Ellen Gacomis, after her 44-years spent as an educator.
To show a little extra school spirit, our Penn Wood Bears can wear spirit wear or the color green to school each week on "Spirit Wear Fridays". Stay updated on Home & School information and events by visiting pennwoodhsa.com.
We'd love to hear from you if you have any ideas or needs. Please e-mail us at pennwoodhomeandschool@gmail.com. Thank you!

Please see the attachment at the bottom of this newsletter with steps to get set up. If you have any questions, contact pennwoodhomeandschool@gmail.com.
Girl Power Starts Here!
Girls on the Run is a life-changing program for 8- to 13-year-old girls that promotes girl empowerment by teaching life skills through lessons and running.
The fall season starts October 4. There are 4 spots remaining for girls in grades 3-5.
Practice times are Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:50-5:20 p.m.
Visit www.gotrpa.org to register. (Select 'Penn Wood Elementary' in the team drop-down field). Financial aid and payment plans are available.
Volunteers and Clearances
Thank you to everyone who completed the volunteer form! There was a great response!
Although volunteers are not currently permitted inside school buildings in the district, there may be some outdoor volunteer opportunities in the near future. You can work toward getting your volunteer clearances on file and up-to-date with the main office. These clearances will be needed for certain volunteer positions when in the presence of students. For more information, click here.
